Peter Ochsner named to BCV's Board of Directors

The Vaud Cantonal Government has appointed Peter Ochsner to BCV's Board of Directors. Mr. Ochsner, who has extensive experience in corporate auditing and deep knowledge of the banking sector, will take up his position on 1 July 2016.

The Vaud Cantonal Government, in accordance with its responsibilities under Article 12 (1(b)) of the cantonal law governing BCV, has named Peter Ochsner to BCV's Board of Directors. Mr. Ochsner will replace Stephan A.J. Bachmann as one of the four BCV Board members appointed by the Vaud Cantonal Government. Mr. Bachmann will soon reach the age limit specified in the law governing BCV for serving on BCV’s Board, but because his term will not end until the close of the Annual General Meeting on 21 April 2016, it has been extended from 1 January 2016 to the date of the AGM.

An auditing specialist

Peter Ochsner has had a brilliant career at PricewaterhouseCoopers S.A. (PwC), which he joined in 1982 after gaining experience in the Internal Audit & Organization Department of the Swiss National Bank. He served on PwC’s management board, and in recent years headed the firm’s auditing practice in Switzerland. Mr. Ochsner is a Swiss-Certified Accountant and, while at PwC, was a lead bank auditor. He has extensive experience with clients in the banking and insurance industries, both in Switzerland and internationally. Mr. Ochsner retired from PwC in 2014. Upon joining BCV’s Board he will chair the Audit and Risk Committee.

An outgoing Board member who has left his mark

As BCV welcomes the arrival of its newest Board member, the Bank would also like to extend its warmest thanks to Stephan Bachmann, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee. His unparalleled experience in the field, rigorous auditing skills, and thorough knowledge of Switzerland’s financial sector – coupled with his energetic spirit and outgoing nature – have been major assets for BCV. His valuable insights and faithful service as head of the Audit and Risk Committee since 1 January 2008 have been appreciated across the Bank.
