ESG gold bars

Valuable and responsibly sourced

We now offer Fairtrade gold bars at our branches in Lausanne (Saint-François), Aigle, Échallens, Morges, Nyon, Pully, Payerne, Vevey-Gare, and Yverdon-les-Bains. You can choose from bars weighing 1, 5, 10 or 20 grams, starting at CHF 95.

We source our physical gold using responsible supply chains that meet environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria. We sell two types of gold over the counter, depending on the weight: Fairtrade certified gold and BCV traceable gold.

Fairtrade certified gold

We use Fairtrade gold for bars weighing 1, 5, 10, or 20 grams. This certification, created by Fairtrade Max Havelaar, indicates that the gold was mined and traded fairly and is physically traceable at every stage of production.

Advantages of Fairtrade gold

Environmentally friendly

  • The mines comply with local environmental legislation.
  • The use of gold extraction products is subject to clear rules.

Fair price

  • Miners benefit from a Fairtrade minimum price.
  • Miners receive a USD 2,000 premium per kilogram of gold for community projects and to improve mine operations.

Regulated work conditions

  • Child labor is prohibited.
  • Measures are put in place to protect miners and their rights.

Gold bars bought over the counter at BCV are inscribed with an ID number. You can use that number to find the mine your gold came from on the Fairtrade Max Havelaar website.

BCV traceable gold

For bars and ingots weighing 50, 100, 250, or 500 grams or 1 kilogram, we offer traceable gold that meets ESG criteria set by BCV.

This gold comes from large-scale mines (LSMs) and is purchased from Swiss refiners that are members of the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA). We select mining companies based on an ESG assessment and require that the ore be refined on a separate production line to enable maximum transparency from the mine all the way through to the end customer. Each gold bar and ingot is certified and can be fully traced.

Upon request, we can provide the name of the mine your gold bar or ingot came from.
